Thinking of commissioning a website design company? Whether you choose TurnTurtle Media or not, here is a well trodden process that will maximise the chances of making your project the success it deserves to be. This is an overview of the process we follow.
How long does it take?
Small simple sites can be online within a week, larger more advanced sites will take around 4 weeks. Times vary depending on how busy we are and your exact requirements, but we’ll discuss a timetable up front and aim to stick to it.

Discovery
The first step is learning about you/your company, your aims, your likes, your clients, your target website audience and whether you offer a decent coffee !
We find a relaxed meeting around a chat through our client questionnaire, followed by answering all your questions is a good way to start.
We will also discuss and advise on the all important domain name so we can rapidly check availability and register it for you.
By the end of our meeting we’ll know more about you, you’ll know more about us and we’ll have a clear shared understanding of what your website is intended to achieve and how TurnTurtle Media will make it a success for you.

Iterative Design
Following our first meeting, we’ll get back to you rapidly with a summary of our thoughts, just for confirmation that all is good prior to our starting on some design work.
Next we’ll do some visual designs ranging from layout sketches to full colour mockups. We’ll show you these and hopefully settle on which one to pursue.
We progress the design and after a couple of rounds of reviewing and tweaking we should be achieving a look, feel and functional design that you are very happy with.
At this point we ask you to “sign off” on all aspects of the website design, domain name etc before we commence development.

Development
We’ll put some coffee on, fire up our code editors and get cracking on the techy stuff.
This is the part where we go quiet for a while, don’t worry though, we’ll be heads down generating all the code and structure that sits behind your finished web site.
At various points in development we’ll deploy the progress to a server so you can view how things are progressing and the feedback loop between yourself and us remains intact! Minor tweaks are still possible as you see the fruits of the design phase come to life on screen.

Deploy, Test and Launch
Are we nearly there yet? Yes !
At this stage we’ll deploy your website onto it’s final server, set up the domain name, email boxes, visitor tracking and all the nitty gritty final bits.
We always test your website in versions of all 5 major web browsers (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Safari) and on your target platforms (desktops/mobiles).
Tests include clicking on all links and buttons, viewing all images/galleries, proof reading all the text, checking it works with keyboard and mouse… you name it, we test it. We also ask you to try it for yourself.
Finally, once we’re both happy and the site works perfectly you can launch your quality and effective website! Sit back and crack open the champagne.
